Everybody has a Mustang story.
Returning to JWT/Detroit after 7 years of working in smaller shops, my partner and I created a Super Bowl spot for the Ford GT. This old work inspires motorhead passion to this day. Road & Track calls it “The single best Super Bowl car commercial of all time.” Car and Driver named it to their “Favorite Super Bowl Car Ads of All Time List.” Forbes named it to their “All Time Best Super Bowl Car Ads” list. Edmunds voted it in at number 5 in their list of “The Ten Best Super Bowl Car Commercials of All Time.” It made Jalopnik’s Best Super Commercials of All Time According to You list. The Drive put it in their Top 8 Super Bowl Spots of All Time list, then ranked it number 1. It's also on the Thrillist Best Super Bowl Commercials of All Time List. The following three years working on Ford was a very busy time. I had the unusual honor of going into production on two launch campaigns at the same time. Not once, but twice. As a reward, the universe saw fit to have me bump into Phyllis Diller for a cocktail at the Casa Del Mar Bar. If you don't know who Phyllis is, you really should. One of my Mustang stories? I’ll never forget the time I volunteered to tune up my neighbor’s rusted out ‘68 Mustang convertible. Just so I could drive it to the beer store and back with the top down. I felt like I was restoring a national treasure. One of the Ford family’s crown jewels, Mustang means a powerful thing to people: Freedom.
